There is a crisis in the city of Detroit, and nation-wide, regarding the lack of testing of rape kits. Thousands of rape kits have gone untested, which prohibits further investigation and prosecution of sexual predators.
Kim Trent created ‘The African American 490 Challenge’, a fundraiser whose sole purpose is to generate money to ensure that these abandoned kits are indeed tested, so that the survivors can get the justice, and possible closure, they so desperately deserve.
